China's top internet regulator has announced a two-month nationwide campaign to tackle harmful online information related to enterprises, starting Friday.

The initiative aims to address the spread of infringing and malicious content about businesses, with a focus on swiftly removing such material and the accounts responsible, according to a statement from the Cyberspace Administration of China.

During the campaign, internet regulators across the country will urge websites and platforms to take responsibility and establish stronger content management systems for enterprise-related information. The effort is intended to clean up the online environment and support the healthy development of businesses, the statement said.

A key task will be identifying and addressing content that insults, slanders or defames entrepreneurs, invades their privacy or damages their reputations, it noted.

Cyberspace authorities will also promptly address and correct AI-generated content that falsely portrays enterprises or maliciously smears companies and their leaders, it added.

In addition, the campaign will target the amplification of negative information about enterprises during sensitive periods such as listings, financing rounds, financial disclosures and new product launches.

The administration pledged to expose websites, platforms and accounts that violate laws and regulations, while calling for stricter reviews of AI-generated content.
