Authorities in Ganzi Tibetan autonomous prefecture, Sichuan province, have launched a comprehensive investigation into Daocheng Yading, a scenic area that has drawn criticism over shuttle bus management and road access issues.

The move came after the scenic area was criticized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in late April for improper shuttle bus operations, and was later hit by fresh accusations of blocking a provincial road to collect tolls.

According to a statement released on Thursday by a joint task force comprising the prefecture's various departments, it is conducting a full review of the road closure and restrictions on private vehicles, vowing to clarify management authority and rectify any non-compliant practices.

It has also initiated a cost review of shuttle bus ticket prices to protect consumer rights, and optimized bus routes by adding viewing platforms and stops to improve visitor experience, the statement said.

A comprehensive rectification plan has been rolled out to upgrade management and services, the task force added.

Starting Friday, transportation fees for shuttle vehicle services within the scenic area have been suspended, according to a separate statement by Ganzi's development and reform commission.
