The 2026 Global Mayors Dialogue · Chengdu opened on Wednesday in Sichuan province, bringing together representatives from 32 cities in 26 countries and five international organizations for exchanges aimed at promoting mutual learning between cities in China and counterparts abroad.

Under the theme "Park City: Harmonious Coexistence", the three-day event features a mayors' roundtable, two situational dialogues, and several themed city tours.

At the roundtable, participants will share insights on topics including sci-tech innovation, industrial collaboration, cultural exchange and ecological security, exploring practical pathways to achieve high-quality development, high-level opening-up, high-quality life and high-efficiency governance.

The situational dialogues will center on biodiversity protection, ecological conservation, park city construction and youth environmental education, as well as the wisdom of ancient water conservancy and ways to pass on the legacy of urban civilization, organizers said.

The city tours will take delegates to a humanoid robot innovation center, a photovoltaic tech pavilion, a digital creative park, an international railway port, as well as a landmark park and renowned ancient streets. Through these immersive experiences, guests will witness Chengdu's efforts in pursuing Chinese-style modernization.

International guests showed a strong interest in deepening cooperation and exchanges with Chengdu.

"I'm deeply impressed by Chengdu's strong innovation in both technology and culture," said Vito Episcopo, deputy mayor of Granada, Spain.

Noting that both Granada and Chengdu share more than 2,000 years of history, Episcopo expressed a desire to cooperate in cultural heritage. He said he also looked forward to AI collaboration to enhance citizens' quality of life.
