To better protect the deer and other wildlife, local authorities have established ecological monitoring stations, seasonal feeding sites, and set up a monitoring network that combines fixed-point observation, drone patrols, and ground-based ranger patrols, ensuring key areas are under continuous surveillance.
"Our goal is not just to bring the milu deer back, but to help them thrive and expand their population here," Zhang said.
