From Shibadong to Thinsom: How a Chinese village's poverty alleviation experience is taking root in Laos

Five years after China announced the complete eradication of absolute poverty, its targeted poverty alleviation approach is already taking root overseas. Back in 2023, Shibadong village in Central China's Hunan province and Thinsom village in Laos became international "sister villages" to work together on poverty reduction. Though separated by mountains and seas, the two villages share a close bond. From building irrigation canals and schools to developing local industries, Shibadong's poverty alleviation experience is now bearing fruit in Thinsom.
