China pledges to expand cooperation ahead of Trump's state visit
China is ready to work with the United States in the spirit of equality, respect and mutual benefit to expand cooperation, manage differences, and inject more stability and certainty into a turbulent world, Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said on Monday.
Starting Wednesday, US President Donald Trump will pay a three-day state visit to China, marking the second face-to-face meeting between the two heads of state since last October and the first visit to China by a US president in nine years.
The two leaders will hold talks on major issues concerning China-US relations, as well as world peace and development, Guo said at a daily news briefing.
He further emphasized that head-of-state diplomacy has played an irreplaceable role in providing strategic guidance for China-US relations.
