On his first visit to China, Algerian painter Ameur Yasser (Lasfar) says the trip is deepening his understanding of Chinese art and heritage, where he has discovered color palettes that mirror his own work.
Inspired by stories from his parents, who lived in China for five years, he recently explored Fujian province firsthand. He noted that colors in some Chinese stamps echo his own use of red and yellow, adding that the Fujian trip has sparked ideas for new works.
He was among a group of Arab artists taking part in the "Silk Road Artists' Rendezvous" visit to Fujian from April 15 to 20, with stops in Xiamen and Fuzhou to draw inspiration for future creations.
