Former Xinjiang prosecutor Guo Lianshan under investigation

Guo Lianshan, former secretary of the leading Party members group and deputy procurator-general of the People's Procuratorate of the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, is undergoing disciplinary review and supervisory investigation on suspicion of serious violations of discipline and law. The announcement was made on Wednesday by the commission for discipline inspection of the Communist Party of China Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Committee and Xinjiang's supervisory commission.

The investigation comes six years after Guo, 70, retired.

According to Procuratorate Daily, Guo was born and raised in Xinjiang. Public information reveals that he spent 25 years working in the Changji Hui autonomous prefecture before moving to Urumqi for six years, where he served as the regional capital's deputy Party secretary and executive vice-mayor.

From 2005 to 2013, he was Party secretary of Hami and concurrently headed what is now the 13th Division of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps.

Guo joined the regional procuratorate of Xinjiang in 2013 and was removed from his roles as a member of the procuratorial committee, secretary of the leading Party members group and deputy procurator-general in March 2019.
