At Xige Winery in Qingtongxia production area at the eastern foothills of the Helan Mountains, journalists sampled locally produced wines and heard about the industry's international success.

Hu Dashu of Portugal's Lusa news agency praised the quality of the wines and said he was also interested in China's wider beverage sector. He noted the region's arid soils and said he wanted to learn more about anti-desertification measures in the vineyards.
