The 12th World Congress on High-Speed Rail, one of the industry's most influential global events, will be held in Beijing from Tuesday to Friday, highlighting China's growing leadership in the sector, according to China State Railway Group, China's railway operator and one of the hosts of the event.

Preparations for the congress, which is jointly organized by China State Railway Group and the International Union of Railways (UIC), are in their final stages. The event is expected to bring together government officials, diplomats, industry executives, and experts from around the world to explore the latest advancements in high-speed rail technology and operations.

The World Congress on High-Speed Rail, launched by the UIC in 1992, has become a major platform for global exchange and cooperation in the high-speed rail sector. Held every two to three years, it serves as a key venue for sharing technological breakthroughs and operational best practices across the international rail community.

This year's conference, themed "High-Speed Rail: Innovation for a Better Life", will feature plenary sessions, roundtable discussions, and technical panels aimed at fostering collaboration and exploring the future of high-speed rail innovation. Representatives from UIC member organizations, national and regional railway operators, and international bodies are expected to attend.

A key part of the event will be the 17th China International Modern Railway Technology and Equipment Exhibition, co-hosted by China Academy of Railway Sciences and China World Trade Center Company Ltd. The exhibition, to be held at the China National Convention Center and the National Railway Test Center, will showcase the latest railway technologies and equipment from around the world.

Organizers also plan a range of side events, including technical tours, cultural and educational programs, and fan engagement activities, offering participants a closer look at China's high-speed rail achievements and innovations.

The event's official website, www.uichighspeed2025.com, has been launched to provide detailed information for delegates and rail enthusiasts worldwide.

This year's congress coincides with the 200th anniversary of the birth of railways, a milestone that underscores the significance of the Beijing gathering.

The event reflects China's pivotal role and growing influence in shaping the future of global high-speed rail, while promoting international cooperation to advance rail-based solutions for sustainable development and improved quality of life, according to the company.
