Shanghai municipal committee receives thousands of public opinions on plans

The Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) submitted 1,080 proposals and received more than 22,000 pieces of information of public opinion over the past year, said Hu Wenrong, chairman of the committee, on Monday.
It also held 23 special meetings and organized 149 research activities, said Hu at the opening ceremony of the second session of the 14th Shanghai Municipal Committee of the CPPCC, the city's political advisory body.
"The committee closely focused on high-quality development to carry out consultation and discussion work, promoted the implementation of the city's major tasks, and strengthened democratic supervision," he said.
Hu said the body will practice the concept of people's democracy in depth in the new year and focus on Shanghai's tasks of building the city into international centers in five realms – economy, finance, trade, shipping, and science and technology innovation.
"The political advisory body will continue to play its leading and exemplary roles in helping Shanghai realize its goal of becoming a modern socialist international metropolis with world influence," he said.
