(Xinhua) Updated: 2015-01-19 10:04

YANGON - A total of 300 Myanmar fishermen out of 396, who were detained by the Indian authorities and later released, returned to Yangon from India by planes over the past two days, official sources said Monday.

The Myanmar fishermen, who accidentally entered Indian territorial waters for various reasons including storm, engine failure and sinking of boats, were detained by the Indian authorities at a camp in Port Blair, the capital of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands of India.

The remaining 96 Myanmar fishermen are expected to be brought back by flight on Monday.

The fishermen are from Ayeyawaddy and Tanintharyi regions and Rakhine state, the sources added.
