The central committee of Fatah movement chaired by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas decided on Tuesday night to suspend its participation in the national unity government with Hamas movement, an official statement said.

The central committee of Fatah movement held an emergency meeting in this West Bank city Tuesday night.

Government spokesman Nabil Abu Rdeneh said the decision does not constitute a final withdrawal from the coalition but means the Fatah ministers will suspend their government activities until a truce is reached.

Fighting between Fatah and Hamas in Gaza Strip had intensified since last Thursday.

Earlier on Tuesday, Chief of Emergency in the Palestinian Health Ministry Mo'aweya Hassanein said since the eruption of clashes between rival Fatah and Hamas movements' militants, 43 Palestinians were killed and 80 wounded all over the Gaza Strip.

The two groups had formed a unity government earlier this year. Fatah has six ministers and Hamas nine.
