A senior Beijing high school student surnamed Guo said she was depressed by the city’s latest plan to reform gaokao, or China’s college entrance examination, in which the overall score for English will drop from 150 to 100, Beijing News reported.
The girl has spent 13 years learning English since she was in kindergarten and lots of time studying the language after class, but now “my advantage in English has been lost,” she said.
