A grand ground-breaking ceremony for Lenovo's western industrial base was held in the Chengdu High-tech West Zone in Sichuan province on Saturday.

Covering 13 hectares, the base has a designed annual capacity of 10 million computers and?is expected to start operation at the end of 2011.

On Oct 29, 2010, Lenovo Group and Chengdu?signed an agreement to build the base combining production, research, development and marketing. According to the agreement, Lenovo and its partners in the industry chain will help Chengdu create a more complete IT industry chain, and the initial joint investment for the base will surpass US$100 million.
