Urumqi Botanic Garden in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region held the Second Peony Festival on Jan 23.

More than 3,000 peonies of 70 species, double the number from last year, were displayed at a 2,100-square-meter exhibition hall.

Thanks to the careful control of the temperature and light, the flower’s florescence has been doubled from 20 days to 40.

Besides blooming peonies, visitors can also admire festive lanterns and fireworks and enjoy themselves at the garden’s Frozen Paradise.

The festival is on until Feb 22.
