Three projects from Shanxi province won second place in the State Scientific and Technological Progress Awards at the National Science and Technology Award Conference held in Beijing on Jan 8.
The three include a Shanxi Transportation Research Institute project for the application of heavy load paving technology, a coal mining technology project involving the Lu'an Group, and a project on insect control in shrub ecological zones in which Shanxi Agricultural University took part.
In addition, Jan Dean Miller, a US visiting professor at Shanxi University, won the China International Science and Technology Cooperation Award.
Shanxi province has enacted a series of policies to promote science and technology innovation in local companies, research institutes and universities in 2018.
