Rice from a harvest in Taicang, Jiangsu province won a gold medal at the 10th Shanghai High Quality Rice Cereals Exhibition - the largest annual rice and cereal exhibition in East China– which concluded in Shanghai on Oct 18.

The rice product was grown in Dingjing village, Fuqiao town. Villagers there grow rice in natural eco-systems void of pesticides or any kind of agricultural chemicals. They breed marine lives such as fish and crabs in the rice field.The crabs and fish eat the weeds and pests, and deposit faeces that make the soil more nutrient. In return, the rice plants offer food and a habitat to crabs and fish.
