HOHHOT, North China, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) -- A herder had broken a Guinness World Record by summiting Mount Bilutu, the highest sand peak around the globe, with fastest speed using a pickup truck in Alashan Right Banner, north China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, local government officials said on Dec 10.

The herder Tao Yongming drove a Chinese-made pickup truck and succeeded in climbing Mount Bilutu, the highest of its kind possessing a relative height of nearly 500 meters and an altitude of 1,609 meters, within six minutes, 33 seconds in his second try on Sunday.

Tao's success created a new Guinness World Record for fastest summiting the highest sand peak with a pickup truck, announced Wu Xiaohong, a notary of Guinness World Records.

Tao, in his early 30's, had reached the top of Mount Bilutu with a motorcycle in 2009.
