A brisk walking activity was organized by the Women's Federation of Xiamen, Fujian province on March 3 to celebrate the upcoming Women's Day, according to Xiamen Daily.

More than 2,000 women from Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan island, and other countries and regions attended the activity.

As deputy mayor Zhang Yigong announced the activity began, these participants made solid strides with a happy heart to walk along the city's Garden Show Park.

"I think it is meaningful to show Xiamen women's new image in this new era in such a low carbon and healthy way," Chen Qiqi from Xiamen Association of Women Entrepreneurs said.

Besides, a variety of other volunteer service activities were organized during the same day, including a qipao culture exhibition (a body-hugging one-piece Chinese dress for women), free medical treatment, charity bazaar, and women's rights safeguarding promotion.
