12月13日，居住在15個國家的伊拉克籍海外人士開始參加伊拉克新議會選舉的第一天投票。散居在世界各地的伊拉克海外人士投票率很高。在伊朗首都德黑蘭南部，可以看到數(shù)百名伊拉克人排成長隊參加投票。
外電報道如下：Voting also appeared heavy among Iraqis in mainly Shiite Iran, a close ally of the Shiite parties that control the current government in Baghdad. Hundreds lined up at a polling station in southern Tehran tocast ballots.
說“投票”，我們常常用vote來表示。報道中的cast a ballot也許才是真正的“投票”，因為cast是“投”的意思，ballot表示“選票”，用cast a ballot來表示“投票”似乎更生動、更形象一些，此外，也可用cast a vote來表示。
比如，I never fail to cast my ballot.（每次投票選舉，我都會參加。）
這樣，“投票”就有了三種說法，它們就是vote, cast a ballot, cast a vote。
