The mother of top Taiwan model Lin Chi-ling has denied reports that her daughter was working long hours to help repay her father's debts, according to a newspaper report on Sunday.

Taiwanese media had said Lin's efforts to pay the debts had prevented her from getting enough rest, causing her to fall from a horse during filming of a commercial in China on July 8. She suffered six fractured ribs from the accident.

But Lin's mother, Wu Tse-mei, denied that the model's father, who operates two factories in China, had run into debt and deplored her daughter's arduous schedule, the Apple Daily reported.

"My heart aches seeing her suffering," the paper quoted Wu as saying. "Even making 10 million dollars is not worth it."

Lin, 32, has worked long hours filming commercials and hosting TV programs since she gained sudden fame about two years ago.

After two weeks of treatment in a Chinese hospital, Lin was flown home Saturday for further treatment. Taiwanese doctors said she was in stable condition.
