During the Chinese Spring Festival, it used to be a tradition for people to put up New Year woodprints at home. The images, with diverse patterns full of auspicious meaning, were an essential part of the celebrations in the past.

The New Year woodprint pictures in Fengxiang of Northwest China's Shaanxi province were among the first batch to make it onto the national intangible cultural heritage list in 2006 due to its unique craftsmanship.
