A 6-year-old female panda at a zoo in Henan province died on Feb 9, the zoo said on Thursday.
The panda, born on Aug 6, 2007, named Jin Yi, was leased to Zhengzhou Zoo in Henan from the China Panda Protection and Research Center in Wolong, Sichuan province, in May 2011.
According to a preliminary investigation, the panda died of gastroenteritis. A specific cause of death will be announced within a month, zoo management said at the news conference.
