A Party secretary in Qiaoxi district in Shijiazhuang, capital of Hebei province, has been detained by police after being accused of injuring an official of a subdistrict office, the Beijing News reported on Sunday.

A city government department confirmed on Saturday that Tao Mingfa, secretary of the city’s Qiaoxi district Party Committee, was detained on Oct 17. He is alleged to be involved in a criminal case in which Zhang Shumo, deputy director of the city’s Zhongshan subdistrict office, was seriously injured.

Official sources wrote in an online post that Tao and Zhang had numerous personal differences, and the motive behind the attack will be revealed following an investigation.

Local police said that Zhang was seriously injured on his way home one night in October. He is continuing to recover from his injuries in hospital.
