Renmin University of China will set up a new law degree specialty called "anti-corruption investigative degree", the Legal Daily reports today.

The major was set jointly with the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP). The report says?top officials?of the General Bureau against Corruption and Bribery of SPP will teach at the university, and students will be eligible to intern at SPP.

"In view of the increasing crimes by officials, professional training on anti-corruption is necessary and useful,"?said anti-corruption expert Lin Zhe.

Chen Weidong, a law professor at Renmin University, said this major will specially focus on the corruption investigative skills to train students with wide knowledge in specific fields such as accounting, securities, auditing?and finance, among others.

"To crack down on crimes involving taking advantage of official duty, students need more than just law knowledge, and this is what this major aims to do," Chen added.
