Roaches flood streets to flee pesticides in sewers
Updated: 2006-09-21 09:13 Thousands of cockroaches were found climbing onto the streets in Jiangxia Village, Guangzhou's Baiyun District, on Tuesday. The scene occurred after personnel from the local centre for disease control sprayed pesticide into the village's sewers and related places where a large number of cockroaches lived. Local villagers have estimated that more than 30,000 cockroaches had been climbing to the streets that afternoon after pesticide was sprayed in the morning. Most of the cockroaches were found to have died after climbing to the ground. Information Times |
