Guangdong ranks 1st by number of overseas-funded firms

There were 71,500 overseas-funded enterprises in South China's Guangdong province at the end of 2010, ranking first across the country, according to the province's commerce bureau.

The figure was 12,800 more than the level at the end of 2005.

Guangdong approved establishment of 34,944 projects with direct overseas investment in 2006-2010 period. They involved $129.3 billion in contracted overseas capital, up 36.8 percent on the 2001-2005 period.

The province actually used $90.6 billion in overseas capital between 2006 and 2010, up 41.8 percent on the 2001-2005 period.
