China's car sales growth tumbles to 10-year low

China's car sales rose a meager 6.7 percent from a year earlier in 2008, the lowest growth rate in 10 years, an industry association said today.

The world's second largest auto market sold 9.38 million vehicles in 2008, China Association of Automobile Manufacturers said, lower than its targeted 10 million sales.

The country produced 9.34 million vehicles in 2008, the association said in a statement.
