China's exports of petroleum drop

China's exports of crude oil and refined oil products dropped in the first eight months, according to statistics of the General Administration of Customs of China.

China exported 4.15 million tons of crude oil in the first eight months, down 15.9 percent from the same period of last year. The exports of refined oil products were 8.2 million tons, down 21.7 percent.

In the same period, China imported 95.8 million tons of crude oil, up 15.3 percent from the first eight months of last year. The imports of refined oil products rose by 25.7 percent year on year to 25.75 million tons.

Both the imports of crude oil and refined oil products hit record highs in the past three years.

According to the statistics, the expense on crude oil imports rose by 51.3 percent year on year to 44.5 billion US dollars and that on imports of refined oil products, up 79.1 percent to nearly 11 billion US dollars.
