Zhang Jie, a local grid worker, said each pole of the upgraded lines weighs about one-ninth as much as a traditional concrete counterpart, meaning no heavy machinery was required for transport or construction.
In addition, all equipment is fully insulated, while heat-resistant, flame-retardant insulating blankets are placed beneath the equipment as an extra protective measure.
"The upgrades have eliminated wildlife electrocutions caused by accidental contact with equipment, as well as line trip-offs triggered by such incidents," he added.
