The first Hongqiao Robot Coffee Competition wrapped up with flair at Hongqiao 365 in Shanghai, showcasing a futuristic blend of technology and coffee artistry as part of this year's Hongqiao International Coffee Culture Festival.
Leading coffee robot brands COFE+ and XBOT captivated audiences with exhibitions, tastings, and a thrilling human-machine showdown.
COFE+ took home the AI Coffee Pilot Award for its advanced technology and market leadership. XBOT impressed with its latte art and ice cream innovations, earning the Gold Award for Craftsmanship.
COFE+'s seventh-generation coffee robot demonstrated its speed and precision. From espressos to intricate latte art, the robot crafted drinks in just 30 seconds, even printing personalized designs on foam. With over 100 patents, COFE+ can produce nearly 300 types of beverages, solidifying its global leadership.
XBOT's dual-arm robot also wowed the crowd, replicating champion barista techniques with flawless precision. Its intelligent ice cream machine was another crowd favorite, selling over 200 servings in four days.
The highlight came as baristas faced off against robots in a competition. A seasoned barista challenged COFE+ and XBOT in latte art and Americano brewing.
In a close contest, the barista and XBOT's creations were separated by just three votes from a panel of 50 public judges. In the Americano challenge, COFE+ completed three cups in 2 minutes and 43 seconds, showcasing industrial precision and edging out the human competitor.
During the event, attendees participated in an 800-cup free tasting activity, voting for their favorite brews. COFE+ won the Favorite by Audience with 298 votes.
Both robots showcased their unique strengths: COFE+ was praised for its speed and variety, while XBOT's craftsmanship and ice cream offerings garnered a loyal following.
The competition highlighted the potential of human-machine collaboration in coffee culture, paving the way for a smarter coffee ecosystem.
