The Yiwu International Commercial Legal Service Center in Jinhua, Zhejiang province, has appointed a new batch of mediators, comprising 44 local lawyers and 12 expats from countries including Iraq, Yemen, Nepal, Malaysia, Morocco, and Senegal.

These mediators bring diverse backgrounds and extensive experience, actively engage in trade, and possess mediation expertise. Their language skills and cultural understanding are expected to bridge communication gaps and foster trust between Chinese and international businesspeople, enhancing Yiwu's business environment.

Yiwu hosts over 10,000 foreign-operated businesses, with the city receiving 681,000 international business visits in 2025, highlighting demand for commercial mediation.

Established in June 2021, the Yiwu International Commercial Legal Service Center is China's first county-level center of its kind. It uses a tripartite model — dedicated staff, partner law firms, and social forces — to offer comprehensive legal services, including consultation, mediation, and contract enforcement. Last year, the center handled 212 international disputes, mainly involving contract sales and payment issues.

After the ceremony, experts delivered lectures on mediation techniques, and experienced lawyers shared classic cases, followed by specialized training for new mediators to ensure effective future mediation work.
