On the eve of International Museum Day, which falls on May 18 every year, Hang Kan, director of the Yungang Research Institute, told Dialogues with Thinkers that museums play a vital role in human cultural exchanges. He said that for contemporary people, museums are spaces for lifelong learning.

Chinese museums hold a distinctive edge in fostering cross-cultural dialogue and mutual understanding, thanks to China's continuous civilization and abundant tangible cultural heritage. Enhancing research on how to reach out to audiences better is an important task for museums to present China's stories more effectively.
