The United States on Saturday cancelled a planned trip to Pakistan by envoys Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff for talks with Iran, US President Donald Trump has confirmed.

The decision came after Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi had earlier left Islamabad, following high-level meetings with Pakistani officials.

Trump wrote on his Truth social media platform that he had called off the visit, citing "too much time wasted on traveling" and "infighting and confusion" within Iran's leadership, adding "we have all the cards".

He also told US media outlet Axios that the cancellation did not indicate any decision to resume military action against Iran, saying, "We haven't thought about it yet".

Posting on X, Araghchi described his visit to Pakistan as "fruitful", and praised Islamabad's efforts to promote regional peace.

He also expressed skepticism over Washington's intentions, writing: "Have yet to see if the US is truly serious about diplomacy."

Agencies contributed to this story.
