A new cooperative agreement was inked between China Eastern Airlines Corp Ltd and China Railway Shanghai Group Co Ltd on Friday in Shanghai, marking the two parties' latest efforts to facilitate the upgrading of Shanghai's international shipping center.

The agreement seeks to make continuous breakthroughs in standards, product innovation, collaboration and exchanges, and aims to build a more extensive, smoother, and comprehensive transportation network with better service, therefore contributing to the development of a world-class Yangtze River Delta city cluster and providing a replicable experience for nationwide transportation.

Currently, the cooperation has already extended to 52 airports and 86 railway stations in 49 Chinese cities. As many as 1.92 million passenger trips were served by China Eastern's rail-air transit products last year, and more than 32,000 passenger trips were made via the highly improved, convenient, efficient, and comfortable service at the Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station.

The rail-air transit has also greatly enhanced inbound passengers in terms of convenience, efficiency and travel experience, offering a solid foundation for Shanghai to build itself into an aviation hub city and tourism center with global influence.
