China pledges deeper cooperation with Thailand
China is ready to work with Thailand to deepen cooperation in areas such as advanced technology, education and people's well-being, and promote the building of a China-Thailand community with a shared future for the benefit of both peoples, Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Wednesday.
Wang made the remarks during a meeting in Beijing with Thai Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, who is currently on an eight-day China visit.
Calling the princess an old and good friend of the Chinese people, Wang said she has visited China 57 times over the past 45 years and has devoted tremendous efforts to promote friendship between the two countries.
He said this year marks the opening of China's 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30) period, and that Beijing stands ready to work with Thailand, under the strategic guidance of the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, to carry forward their traditional friendship.
Sirindhorn described China as a good friend of Thailand and expressed appreciation for China's strong support in areas including talent development and human resources training.
The princess said her current visit included trips to several high-tech projects that she found both interesting and rewarding. She voiced hope for closer exchanges with China across various fields and enhanced mutual understanding between the two peoples so as to further strengthen bilateral friendship.
