Xi greets To Lam on election as Vietnam's president

President Xi Jinping congratulated To Lam on Tuesday on his election as president of Vietnam, saying that he stands ready to work with the Vietnamese leader to advance development and rejuvenation and move forward the building of the China-Vietnam community with a shared future.

To Lam, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, was elected Vietnamese president on Tuesday morning.

Xi, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said that in recent years, under the joint guidance and promotion of the leaders of the two parties and the two countries, China-Vietnam relations have achieved leapfrog development, and fruitful outcomes in comprehensive strategic cooperation have delivered tangible benefits to the two peoples.

He noted that since the beginning of this year, the two sides have maintained high-level strategic communication and steadily advanced all-around mutually beneficial cooperation, fully demonstrating their profound friendship of "comrades plus brothers".

At a time when the world is going through rapid changes unseen in a century, Xi stressed that stronger unity and coordination between China and Vietnam serve the common interests of both parties and countries.

Highlighting that he highly values the development of relations between the two parties and the two countries, Xi said that he stands ready to work with To Lam to continuously strengthen their respective socialist causes and deliver more benefits to the two peoples, in order to inject greater stability and positive energy into the region and the world.

Also on Tuesday, Premier Li Qiang extended congratulations to Le Minh Hung on his election as prime minister of Vietnam, expressing his readiness to work with Le Minh Hung to accelerate the building of a mutually beneficial and win-win cooperation framework, and make positive contributions to advancing the China-Vietnam community with a shared future that carries strategic significance.
