China and Pakistan put forward on Tuesday a five-point proposal for restoring peace and stability in the Gulf and the Middle East.

The proposal was made during talks in Beijing between Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar.

They urged an immediate end to hostilities and the early launch of peace talks. The two sides also called for the protection of non-military targets, the safeguarding of shipping lanes, and the upholding of the primacy of the United Nations Charter.
