A Song Dynasty (960-1279) intellectual might spend warm, pleasant spring days like this: lighting incense, arranging flowers in a vase, admiring a painting, and savoring a cup of tea. This cultivated way of life was later captured by Chen Hongshou, a late Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) artist, in his work A Pause in Playing Music for Tea, now on show at the exhibition, Yuncang Qiannian (Treasures of a Millennium of Duoyunxuan), in Shanghai.

Jointly presented by the China Art Museum and the time-honored cultural institution, Duoyunxuan, the exhibition runs until April 5. It features selected works from Duoyunxuan's collection, including paintings and calligraphy, ancient texts, rubbings, and engraved seals, offering a glimpse into the depth of Chinese traditional culture.

10 am-6 pm, closed on Mondays. 205 Shangnan Lu, Pudong district, Shanghai. 400-921-9021.
