China has warned the United States and its allies against introducing bloc confrontation, conflict and turmoil into the Asia-Pacific region, after the Pentagon confirmed a US-led manufacturing partnership is seeking to establish a new ammunition production line in the Philippines.

China maintains that military and security cooperation between countries should not target any third party, harm the interests of any third party, or undermine regional peace and stability, Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said at a regular press briefing on Thursday.

Issuing a stark warning to countries involved in the proposed project, Lin said that those who serve as a powder keg or ammunition depot will only end up hurting themselves.

The spokesman added that China will resolutely defend its rights, territorial integrity and security interests.
