In recent days, grey herons have been spotted resting gracefully on the shallow riverbanks. With their slender posture and calm demeanor, these elegant birds add a serene charm to the riverside landscape. Passersby slow their pace, watching quietly and taking photos from a respectful distance, careful not to disturb these gentle visitors.

The waters around the ecological island are open and pristine – an ideal habitat for herons, known for their high sensitivity to environmental conditions. As a nationally protected species, their presence signals clean water and a healthy ecosystem.

Their arrival is more than a seasonal sight, it is a testament to years of ecological restoration along the Yitong River. Once troubled by poor water quality, the river has been transformed into a vibrant ecological corridor, where clear waters, green banks and thriving birdlife now define the landscape.
