Coal-bed methane field sees progress
China's first large-scale coal-bed methane field, the Daning-Jixian block in North China's Shanxi province, has reached a record daily production capacity of 11 million cubic meters, said Petro-China Coalbed Methane Co Ltd. The field is a national demonstration project for deep coal-bed methane exploitation. Construction of the field, which has proved reserves of 400 billion cubic meters, began in 2019. In 2025, the field produced a cumulative 3.05 billion cubic meters of coal-bed methane, making it the largest of its kind in the country to date.
Deicing to safeguard rail tunnel safety
The Datong-Qinhuangdao Railway, which transports some 350 million metric tons of coal each year, has strengthened measures to mitigate the impact of ice on railway tunnels. The Chawu Engineering Section of Datong-Qinhuangdao Railway Co has carried out deicing operations in response to the problem caused by ice in railway tunnels during cold weather, effectively eliminating potential safety hazards for train operations. As the safety of heavy-haul trains running on the railway line is of paramount importance to the section, it has included comprehensive investigation and on-site deicing operations as a must-have protective system.
