BEIJING -- A public prosecution has been initiated against Chen Shifei, former deputy head of the National Medical Products Administration, on suspicion of bribery.
The Second Branch of the People's Procuratorate of Shanghai Municipality in East China recently filed a lawsuit against Chen with the Shanghai No 2 Intermediate People's Court, the Supreme People's Procuratorate said on Monday.
The lawsuit comes after the conclusion of an investigation by the National Commission of Supervision into Chen's alleged misconduct.
Chen is accused of abusing his official positions to secure benefits for others and illegally accepting an "extremely large amount" of money and valuables as bribes.
