Shanghai's Suzhou Creek hosts regatta for young scientists

A rowing regatta featuring young scientists from China and overseas attending the 18th Pujiang Innovation Forum in Shanghai took place at the city's Suzhou Creek in the Putuo district on Friday.
The scientists, who are in town for the three-day forum that kicks off on Saturday, formed seven rowing teams for what was an entertaining contest.
According to one of the event organizers, the Shanghai Science and Technology Commission, the regatta integrated the vitality of sports with the spirit of scientific and technological innovation, creating a platform for cross-disciplinary exchange and collaborative innovation for young scientists.
Wu Chengtie, president of the Shanghai Youth Association of Scientific and Technological Talent, said that both scientific research and rowing require team spirit, while scientific endeavors demand synchronized and shared objectives.
Following the regatta, participants attended presentations by the district talent bureau and the district science and technology commission on local talent policies and the industrial environment. Discussions followed on technology transfer and project collaboration.
