At 100 years old, veteran Zhi Fasheng still proudly declares: "Where I go, victory will follow!"
He joined the Eighth Route Army at just 15, naming himself Fasheng to symbolize victory in every battle. Born in Shandong's Yimeng Mountain area, he fought in the Battle of Daqing Mountain and later settled in Zunyi, Guizhou, to support the development of Southwest China. As the country is set to mark the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931-45), this centenarian veteran sings once more: "I am a soldier, born of the common people…"
