Yuan strengthens against greenback

The central parity rate of the Chinese currency renminbi, or the yuan, strengthened 54 pips to 7.1656 against the US dollar Tuesday, according to the China Foreign Exchange Trade System. In China's spot foreign exchange market, the yuan is allowed to rise or fall by 2 percent from the central parity rate each trading day. The central parity rate of the yuan against the US dollar is based on a weighted average of prices offered by market makers before the opening of the interbank market each business day.

Nanchang-Jiujiang HSR milestone

State builder China Railway Construction Corp said its 24th bureau achieved a milestone in the Nanchang-Jiujiang High-speed Railway project, as it has completed installing all 425 box girders in its section, becoming the first contractor to finish girder work in the construction of the railway. Designed for trains running at up to 350 kilometers per hour, the high-speed railway aims to facilitate links between the Yangtze River Delta and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area upon its 2027 opening, according to the local government.

Raising public awareness of safe travel

As this June marks the 24th national safe production month, China Railway Taiyuan Group has organized a "Safe Operation Month" publicity campaign. As part of this, employees from its Shuozhou Vehicle Depot in Shanxi province set up exhibition boards, distributed leaflets and gave lectures at Shuozhoudong Railway Station in a bid to increase railway safety knowledge and emergency response actions among passengers. They also interacted with passengers and answered questions, working to provide the public with safe travel tips.
