China's deep-water seismic exploration vessel makes first international trip

China's deep-water seismic exploration vessel, the Ocean Oil 720, set sail on Sunday from Zhanjiang Port in Guangdong province to Indonesia, carrying the country's independently developed high-precision marine seismic exploration system.
China Central Television reported that this marks the vessel's inaugural international mission, providing seismic exploration technology services on a global scale. The move offers a Chinese solution to geological exploration challenges overseas, advancing global offshore oil and gas development.
Seismic exploration refers to a method of investigating subterranean structure for petroleum and natural gas.
Since the production commenced last year, the Ocean Oil 720, has completed seismic exploration in five areas within Chinese waters, covering an area of 6,552 square kilometers.
