About 75,000 healthcare workers in the United States initiated a strike on Wednesday, affecting medical facilities in California, Virginia and three other states, marking the largest labor unrest in the healthcare industry. The striking personnel are members of the Coalition of Kaiser Permanente Unions, representing Kaiser Permanente, the largest private healthcare organization in the US, operating 39 hospitals and nearly 700 medical facilities.
