Shopping malls and department stores in Shanghai are currently in the midst of restoring offline operations as the city prepares to fully normalize daily life and business activities on June 1 according to the plan.

In Putuo district in downtown Shanghai, the 1,000 Trees shopping center by British designer Thomas Heatherwick, and the colossal Global Harbor shopping complex started welcoming visitors on Thursday.

Five Wanda Plazas, all of which are located in suburban districts like Jinshan and Chongming, had also resumed offline operations as of Thursday.

The Wanda Plaza in Qingpu district announced that 60 of its tenants will be resuming offline operations on May 29.

Other shopping complexes in downtown including Jing An Kerry Center and Grand Gateway 66 have also been taking the necessary steps to reopen their doors. Commercial complexes under developer Shui On have been implementing stringent hygiene requirements and using intelligent equipment to ensure a safe and sound environment for shoppers ahead of their reopening.

Popular malls Taikooli Qiantan and the BFC Shanghai Shopping Centre had already resumed operations earlier this month.
